Soon isn’t soon enough Apple. When Apple launched the iPhone 3gs last year, they announced that they will launch in other countries around the world which included India soon. But now after almost 9 months and just before 3 months probably for the launch of iPhone 3g, Bharti Airtel is launching iPhone 3GS in India and at a very high price tag compared to other countries. And the best part, Apple fan boys of India has already got their officially unlocked versions of the phone from UAE, Australia and New Zealand, Grey Market etc. Anyway, Airtel is charging the following for each models.

iPhone 3gs 16gb will cost you Rs 35500/-
iPhone 3gs 32gb will cost you Rs 41500/-
And the previous generation iPhone 3g 8gb will cost you Rs 29500/-
Even after such a huge price tag, the phone is still locked to Airtel. So you will need to be an Airtel customer to use the phone. However, existing users can simply insert the sim to unlock the phone. Airtel also has a promotional plan which gives you free 500mb data usage monthly upto 12 months. Any usage beyond this limit will be charged Rs 0.30/50Kb.
Are you one of those iPhone fans ? Did you buy one already ? or will you buy one now ?? Tell us by commenting below.
Nokia announced that it has today filed a complaint against Apple with the Federal District Court in Delaware, alleging that Apple’s iPhone infringes Nokia patents for GSM, UMTS and wireless LAN (WLAN) standards.
As a leading innovator in wireless communications, Nokia has created one of the strongest and broadest patent portfolios in the industry, investing more than EUR 40 billion in R&D; during the last two decades. Much of this intellectual property, including the patents in suit, has been declared essential to industry standards. Nokia has already successfully entered into license agreements including these patents with approximately 40 companies, including virtually all the leading mobile device vendors, allowing the industry to benefit from Nokia’s innovation.
The ten patents in suit relate to technologies fundamental to making devices which are compatible with one or more of the GSM, UMTS (3G WCDMA) and wireless LAN standards. The patents cover wireless data, speech coding, security and encryption and are infringed by all Apple iPhone models shipped since the iPhone was introduced in 2007.

Yes guys, the wait is over. Unconfirmed reports say, Apple has announced that they will release Iphone 3GS in India on 19th september 2009. Although the apple site doesnot hint us anything about this. The phone was expected this month but due to less stock caused by high demand in many countries the launch date had to be delayed. Anyway, there is only one thing we all wanna know. The price tag. Well here it is:
Iphone 3gs 16gb: Rs 36000/-
Iphone 3gs 32gb: Rs 40000/-
Now thats a very bad move from apple especially phones like nokia n900, sony ericsson satio etc are expected with a lesser price tag. Moreover, they could have atleast kept the price tag at 31k and 36k itself like they did in US where the prices remain unchanged. It seems like they are happy with iphone 3g sale in India which is why the price seems to be like this. Many of you might have planned to buy one but the price tag might not be fitting to everyone. Anyway, tell us you opinion about apple’s pricing strategy. Do you think iphone 3gs will go on sale well or not ??
