Over-The-Air(OTA) software updates was one of the major features that was announced in the iOS 5. In the last three betas of iOS 5, the OTA update was disabled. However, Apple has pushed the most recent beta of iOS 5 which is beta 4 as an OTA update. The update, which is around 145MB in size can now be downloaded and installed OTA without the need for a computer running iTunes.

If you are not aware of an iOS update for your phone, don’t worry. Your phone will intelligently detect and tell you when a new update is available. Our reader AbhinavSidhu was alerted this morning when the iOS 5 Beta 4 was rolled out. He also sent us a screenshot of the same.

So have you updated your device yet ?? Let us know any change you find in the new update :)

this might not be the biggest of all the changes you expect to see on the new iOS 5 which is going through rigorous testing and updates. however it’s good to know that when updates for each apps were introduced. In the app store update page you can now see the release dates mentioned individually for each app with an update. So just in case, if you are warned not to update into the latest version of an app which has bugs, you can easily know which particular update it is :)

The first thing you’ll notice in iOS 5 settings is the option to set the volume rocker buttons to have the ability to change the ringtone volume from just about anywhere.

Secondly, you’ll see a lot of actions like sent mail, sent tweet, new voicemail etc can now have tones of our choice than the Apple pre-defined tones. It looks like, with iOS 5, Apple is giving is more and more flexibility. So now run to settings and set some cool new tunes ;)
